Stephen A. Bell was born in Austin, Texas, and graduated from Colby College in 1992 and the Washington & Lee University School of Law in 2000. He has been admitted to the bars of Maine, New Hampshire and Virginia.

For the entirety of his career, Stephen has focused his practice on liability defense and insurance issues.  He has handled hundreds of litigated cases in state and federal courts to resolution through mediation, arbitration, trial, or appeal.  These matters have involved motor vehicle accidents, property damage, premises liability, property boundary disputes, maritime issues, wrongful death, landlord/tenant disputes, environmental claims, animal torts, minor settlements, products liability, timber trespass and construction defects.

Stephen has also conducted examinations under oath and handled uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, bad faith and subrogation matters for his insurance clients.

He has contributed to MCLE’s treatise “A Practical Guide to Discovery and Depositions in Maine” and has been a lecturer at annual meetings of the New England Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units, in addition to conducting various continuing legal education seminars.

Stephen lives in Portland with his wife, children and dogs.
